About Hug a Mug

Hug a Mug began as a creative space centered on ceramics painting. What started as an art-focused studio grew organically into something more: a place where creativity, calm, and care could exist side by side.

Ceramics has always been at the heart of the space. Early on, the studio served as a setting for teaching art to young students and young adults, emphasizing patience, expression, and presence over perfection. That foundation continues to shape how the space is experienced today.

In 2020, Hug a Mug entered a new chapter. The business was restructured to reflect a clearer alignment of values, grounded in integrity and intention. The Hug a Mug that exists now is the result of that clarity — a space guided by care rather than compromise.

Why This Space Exists

Hug a Mug exists to offer a refuge from noise, conflict, and stress. It is a place to slow down, create, and settle in.

Whether someone comes in for a thoughtfully made drink, time to paint ceramics, quiet work, or conversation, the goal is simple: to leave feeling grounded and seen.

The focus is not on productivity or performance, but on presence. The space is designed to feel steady, welcoming, and human.

How the Space Is Guided

Hug a Mug operates with clear intention and care for how people experience the space. We value good faith, mutual respect, and thoughtful boundaries, and we strive to offer the same in return.

The way the space is run reflects those values quietly, through consistency, care, and attention to detail rather than explanation.

How Hug a Mug Is Supported

Hug a Mug is an independently run, owner-led space supported by people who believe in its values and long-term presence in the community.

Much of the work behind Hug a Mug happens beyond the shop itself, allowing the space to operate steadily and independently. The focus remains on the environment: how it feels to be here, how people are treated, and how care shows up in the everyday details.
